Happy, Happy Wednesday! How is everyone doing now that we are 4 days in? Have you found a routine? Have you noticed a change in the flow of your day on the days you have been intentional with your time in prayer?
While we are doing this challenge, what are you circling in prayer? These 40 days, I am circling my family in prayer, that my children’s hearts would be firmly rooted in God’s word. That my son would have his passion for Christ ignited and my daughter would learn to trust God in all things. That I would be a better passenger. 😉
What impacted you when reading Day 4?
Study Guide:
Key Takeaway: Sometimes God delivers us from our problems; sometimes God delivers us through our problems.
1. John 9:1-5(NIV): As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
2. What is the difference between praying away and praying through? Which of these types of prayers do you tend to pray?
I believe that when I started praying years ago, I was more of a praying away kinda gal. Who doesn’t want God to fix it all. However, now I tend to pray through. I find myself wanting to pray away, but I’ve learned that sometimes God allows my circumstances to change me.
3. What is a situation in your life where you saw God change you through it rather than simply make the problem go away?
I have a lot of these.. God has had to change me a lot and I’m still a broken, beautiful mess that God is changing every day. One of the longest seasons that God worked on me was when I was trying to promote or transfer to a different Division. God said No for many years and and when he said yes, he provided more abundantly than I expected and even asked for. I learned profoundly that God’s timing is perfect.
How about you?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for our families, we thank you for how you provide for us. Lord as we navigate this week, please guide us. I pray that each of us will trust you, Lord, with every detail of our lives and we would not focus on our circumstances, but on you. I pray that we would be people of prayer. In your name we pray, Amen.
