“I am waiting on you Lord, and I am hopeful… Patiently I will wait. I will move ahead, bold and confident.. Taking every step in obedience. While I am waiting I will serve you. I will worship while wait. I will be running the race, even while I wait.”
What I love about this trip my family takes to Florida for the Fourth of July, is the intentional time with God. This year as I am preparing for a testimony that I will speak on for the Women’s Encounter at my church. Of course it is a subject matter that will grow me and stretch me.
I am diving into studies to help me serve these ladies and I came across this song, John Waller, “While I’m Waiting.” If you have never watched the Fireproof the Movie take a minute and sit down and watch it. (warning… the acting is terrible, but you’re not watching for the acting.)
Waiting… “Be still in the presence of the Lord. Wait patiently for Him to act. Psalm 37:7
What are you waiting on? What are you “patiently” waiting on God to do? Let’s look at the the above verse… “Be still” How often are we still in our world today. We have to be intentional at being still. Let’s go further… “in the presence of the Lord.” It is difficult for all of us to be still and then to toss in time to read God’s word and pray! Being INTENTIONAL is what God wants from us. He pursues us and wants us to pursue a relationship with him.
I recently found myself distracted by life. Chaos had really disrupted our daily lives. Instead of being “STILL” I moved forward on my own strength and pressed on. I put on my superhero cape and took life head on. It changed my perspective and almost took my heart. Usually a positive person, I have given into a not so positive outlook. Really just trying to struggle through the day on my own strength. God wants us to know his word and to fully trust in his promises. If we are not taking daily time to “Be still in the presence of the Lord” everything can get distorted. Relationships can be hurt, your work can be effected, your gifts and talents are not being used. Life and the burdens that come with living in this broken world begin to weigh on us.
I want to challenge myself and ask you all to take up this challenge with me today to be intentional! To “Be still in the presence of the Lord. Wait patiently for him to act.” Psalm 37:7 The only way to be successful is to choose this time with God over all the other distractions in our lives. I am a busy mom of two and my husband and I work jobs that can be physically and emotionally taxing. We have competative soccer, families we care for and friends we love on, but I spend too much time surfing Facebook, Pinterest and Netflix binging. I know that I have made choices in the past few months that have been easier than doing what God has called me to do. I know that choosing to be still with God isn’t easy, becasuse our minds will wonder, little people will distract us. I promise you, that when you take a minute to fill your cup with the Lord’s word and feed your soul, you will be more equipped for the day and for what life will toss at you.
One last note.. As you do this, stand firm… Satan will do all he can to distract you. Pray on your Armor… Stand firm in your faith and hold your thoughts captive. 2 Corinthians 10:5 “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
PRAYER:
Lord, As I face trials in this life, remind me you have given us your full armor (Ephesians 6:10-18). As I gear up for the battles of life, give me the strength to fight on my knees in prayer. I ask you to give me the endurance to keep moving forward. I trust you with my life and all the battles that come my way. I thank you for the victory I hold in you. I pray that as I move through my day that I will not lean on my strength, but on you, the ultimate protector. May we always turn to you for protection, especially in the days of darkness. Remind me it was never my battle to fight, but yours. Amen
Have an amazing day! Go out and be the BEST you can be… Remember it is choice.. You can make it a great day or not..
